Rudrapur: Two young men who had gone missing were found dead, hanging from trees, in separate incidents across Udham Singh Nagar district on Monday. While preliminary police assessments point toward suicide in both cases, officials are investigating all angles pending post-mortem results.
First Incident: Hariom
In the first incident, 28-year-old Hariom, a resident of Bharatpur village, was found dead in a nearby forest. Hariom, a daily wage laborer, left his home on Sunday morning and never returned. Following a frantic family search, a missing person report was lodged. Local villagers spotted his body the next evening.
As the only son of his parents, Hariom leaves behind his wife, a four-year-old daughter, and a 1.5-year-old son. Kashipur circle officer Prashant Kumar stated, “Prima facie, the case appears to be one of suicide. Further action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report.”
Second Incident: Harshit Sana
In the parallel tragedy, 26-year-old Harshit Sana was found hanging from a tree near the Baigul river in the SIDCUL Phase-II area. Sana, a SIDCUL factory employee from Shaktifarm, had been missing for four days before a local cattle grazer discovered his body. Sana had been married for just four months and, like Hariom, was the only son of his parents.
Shaktifarm outpost in-charge Jagdish Tiwari commented, “The circumstances suggest suicide at first glance, but all angles are being examined.”
Both families are in shock, and investigations are ongoing. Police are awaiting post-mortem reports to determine the exact cause of death and rule out any foul play. The incidents have raised concerns about mental health and social pressures in the region.
