Eluru: A tragic fire incident in the early hours of Tuesday claimed the lives of two women in Velerupadu village, Eluru district. The fire erupted at the residence of Savithri, a widow, located in Santha Market area, around 1:42 a.m.
Details of the Incident
Savithri lived alone in her house. Her sister, Sigapulamma, who was a resident of Suryapeta district in Telangana, had been visiting Velerupadu to assist her and was staying at Savithri's home at the time of the accident.
According to police reports, flames suddenly engulfed the houses constructed with AC sheets, spreading rapidly and leaving the occupants with little time to escape. Upon receiving information, police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. Firefighters worked diligently and eventually brought the flames under control.
Two houses were completely gutted in the fire in Velerupadu mandal, Eluru district. The two women trapped inside were unable to escape and died in the blaze. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
