Historic Unity March Arrives in Vadodara
The significant 'Unity March,' organized to mark the 150th birth anniversary of India's Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, made its entry into Vadodara on Friday. This pivotal journey is on its way to its final destination, the iconic Statue of Unity (SoU) located in Kevadiya.
Minister Joins the Celebrations
On the third day of this monumental march, Union Minister for Youth Affairs, Sports, Labour, and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, joined the participants. The march received a grand and ceremonial welcome as it crossed into Vadodara district at Sindhrot. A contingent of mounted policemen and a vibrant police band were present to honor the event, creating a memorable atmosphere.
Originally flagged off from Karamsad, the birthplace of Sardar Patel, the march is undertaking an extensive journey covering a distance of nearly 180 kilometers before it culminates at the SoU.
A Message of Unity and Self-Reliance
Addressing a special 'Sardar Gatha' event held at Sindhrot, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the core message carried by the march. He stated that the procession embodies the ideals of unity, self-reliance, and a developed India.
Mandaviya recalled the immense contribution of Sardar Patel in the integration of 562 princely states into a modern, unified India. He emphasized that the Iron Man's principles remain absolutely vital for the nation to achieve its centenary goals and continue on its path of progress.
Revealing the nationwide scale of the commemorations, the minister informed that more than 1,500 one-day marches are being conducted simultaneously across 750 districts all over the country.
Youth Participation and Engagement
A major focus of the event was the enthusiastic participation of the youth. Mandaviya shared that over 5 lakh young individuals had taken part in an online quiz based on Sardar Patel's life, hosted on the MyBharat platform.
From this massive pool of participants, 150 youths were selected to join the Unity March. A group of 50 selected participants were present at the Sindhrot event. The minister later had lunch with these young marchers, engaging in meaningful interactions about Patel's legacy.
The march is scheduled to enter Vadodara city on Sunday. It will remain within the city and district until Wednesday, allowing for more local participation and events, after which it will proceed towards its next stop, Poicha in Narmada district.
