In the early hours of Wednesday, an Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus traveling from Lucknow to Rupaidiha collided with a truck near Gadamaar village, under the Hardi police station limits. The accident occurred around 1 am, leaving 17 passengers injured, including two in critical condition.
Details of the Accident
According to police, the bus was en route from Lucknow to Rupaidiha, while the truck was heading from Bahraich to Sitapur. The collision took place near Gadamaar village, prompting an immediate response from local authorities. Upon receiving information, Hardi Station House Officer (SHO) Alok Singh rushed to the spot with a police team. Senior officers, including Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishwajeet Srivastava and Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari, also arrived to oversee rescue and relief operations.
Rescue and Medical Response
The injured passengers were evacuated from the damaged bus and transported to the district hospital for treatment. Hospital officials reported that most passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries. However, two passengers, identified as Pappu and Satyadev, were in serious condition. They were referred to a higher medical facility in Lucknow late at night for advanced care.
Official Visits and Investigation
SP Vishwajeet Srivastava later visited the district hospital along with senior officials to review the condition of the injured. Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision. Authorities are examining factors such as driver negligence, road conditions, and possible mechanical failures.
This incident highlights the importance of road safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such accidents in the future.
