The Uttar Pradesh Congress on Friday demanded a probe into the assets of BJP ministers, MPs, and MLAs, alleging that the ruling party was trying to malign the image of state Congress president Ajay Rai through a politically motivated campaign.
Allegations of Corruption Within BJP Ranks
Speaking to the media, Congress media department chairman and former minister CP Rai stated, "The BJP is seeking an inquiry into Ajay Rai's assets while ignoring allegations of corruption within their own ranks." He accused the BJP of hypocrisy, claiming that the party has no moral ground to demand an investigation into opposition leaders.
Targeting of Ajay Rai
CP Rai alleged that Ajay Rai was being targeted after he visited Mahoba recently to meet the family of a Dalit student who was allegedly abducted and assaulted. "Instead of standing with the victim's family, the government tried to stop Ajay Rai from reaching there. When he did, the BJP launched a campaign against him," Rai said.
AI-Generated Video and Fake Case
CP Rai further claimed that an AI-generated video was circulated to falsely portray Ajay Rai as using objectionable language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also alleged that a fake case was registered against Ajay Rai in connection with the incident.
Corruption Allegations Against BJP Government
Claiming that the BJP government was neck-deep in corruption, CP Rai cited alleged irregularities in civic and infrastructure projects. He argued that the ruling party had no moral authority to seek an inquiry into opposition leaders when its own ministers and lawmakers face serious allegations.
The Congress party has demanded a thorough investigation into the assets of all BJP ministers, MPs, and MLAs, asserting that the public has a right to know about the wealth accumulated by those in power.
