Lucknow: In a politically significant development, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting comes at a crucial time as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gears up for organisational changes and electoral preparations ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Maurya Describes Meeting as Courtesy Visit
Maurya described his meeting with the Prime Minister as a "courtesy visit" aimed at seeking guidance from "our illustrious Prime Minister." In a post on social media platform X, he stated, "He is the driving force behind the goal of a 'Developed India' and a steadfast messenger of Lord Buddha's message of peace to the world." The Deputy CM also extended his greetings to PM Modi on the historic and unprecedented victory of the BJP in West Bengal and Assam.
Discussions on Development and Governance
"Under your (PM Modi's) able leadership, the nation is continuously setting new benchmarks in development, good governance and public welfare," Maurya said, adding that the Prime Minister's presence and counsel always serve as an inspiration to pursue initiatives for the public and national interest with even greater dedication and commitment.
Poll Strategies Discussed with Amit Shah
Maurya revealed that he discussed poll strategies with Home Minister Amit Shah, including the formation of a BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for the third time in 2027. While BJP leaders routinely characterise such meetings as organisational or courtesy interactions, Maurya's visit holds particular significance given the politically sensitive juncture.
BJP's Organisational Rejig in Uttar Pradesh
The BJP is expected to undertake a major organisational reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. This includes appointments to key party positions and a reassessment of electoral strategies aimed at retaining power for a third consecutive term in the state.
