The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) issued a strong appeal on Wednesday for the implementation of a comprehensive and stringent nationwide law aimed at curbing illegal religious conversions. The organization asserted that such activities represent a significant threat to national security and social harmony.
Allegations of Widespread Conversion Activities
VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain voiced deep concern over what he described as "continuous reports" of conversion-related incidents occurring across various sectors. He specifically highlighted allegations involving corporate workplaces, suggesting these are not isolated events but part of a broader trend.
Jain pointed to an alleged case in Nashik linked to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as a prime example. He claimed this incident has exposed a wider, more organized pattern of conversion activities that demands immediate and focused governmental attention to prevent further escalation.
Commendation for Police Intervention and Call for Legal Framework
The VHP also took the opportunity to commend a group of police personnel who, according to the organization, played a crucial role in uncovering the details of the alleged Nashik case. Jain stated that their timely intervention was instrumental in preventing more young individuals from being potentially affected by such activities.
Expanding on the issue, Jain linked these alleged incidents to what he termed a broader, organized network that operates beyond specific institutions or localities. He argued that this network's reach necessitates a unified national response rather than piecemeal state-level actions.

In support of their demand, the VHP referenced states that have already enacted stricter anti-conversion laws.
