Vidyasagar Setu Closed 16 Hours Sunday for Repairs

Kolkata: Vidyasagar Setu will be closed for 16 hours on Sunday, from 5 am to 9 pm, to facilitate repair and rehabilitation work on the bridge. The work includes replacement of stay and holding cables and bearings, as undertaken by the Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC). During this period, movement of all types of vehicles will be restricted on the bridge and its ramps.

Traffic Diversion Plans

The traffic police have devised diversion plans for vehicles on Sunday. All vehicles coming along AJC Bose Road from the Zeerut Island side will be diverted from Turf View towards Hastings crossing to use St Georges Gate Road, Strand Road, and Howrah bridge. Vehicles coming along KP Road from the J&N Island side towards Vidyasagar Setu will be diverted from 11, Furlong Gate towards Hastings crossing and will proceed towards Howrah bridge. Vehicular traffic may also be diverted through arterial roads as needed.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. The closure is necessary for the safety and longevity of the bridge structure.
