Vijay Unveils Ambitious AI-Powered Governance Agenda in Kanyakumari Campaign
During a campaign rally in Kanyakumari district on Sunday, TVK leader Vijay announced a comprehensive third set of poll promises focused on "AI-powered governance" and multi-tiered digital reforms. He outlined what he termed the "TVK's Agenda for 21st Century Good Governance," positioning it as a transformative vision for Tamil Nadu.
Digital Reforms to Eliminate Bribery and Delays
Vijay emphasized that welfare schemes would reach beneficiaries without corruption through a proposed "Tamil Nadu Citizen Privilege Card" for every family. This card would integrate all household details to ensure seamless, automatic delivery of benefits from birth to death, eliminating the need for applications. "People will no longer need to pay bribes to access government services," he asserted.
Criticizing the current DMK administration led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Vijay alleged that delays in public services are often linked to bribery. "Officials delay work citing documentation issues, but the real problem is the demand for ‘dabbu'. This is not governance; it is harassment," he stated, vowing to eradicate such practices.
Key Proposals for Transparency and Efficiency
Vijay detailed several initiatives to enhance governance:
- Tamil Nadu Right to Service Act: To be enacted within six months of assuming office, ensuring timely service delivery with penalties for delays.
- Vetri Tamil Nadu Super App: A mobile application providing services like driving licenses, ration cards, scheme tracking, and grievance redressal.
- Tamil Nadu Realtime Governance Dashboard: A platform for transparency in public spending and tracking of scheme beneficiaries.
Public Participation and Technological Development
Emphasizing citizen engagement, Vijay proposed a dedicated platform allowing people to submit ideas, vote on policies, and monitor expenditure. Petitions with sufficient verified signatures would be taken up for official response and legislative debate.
On economic growth, he envisioned Tamil Nadu as a hub for artificial intelligence and digital innovation. Proposals include:
- Establishing the state's first artificial intelligence university.
- Creating an "AI City" and innovation centers in Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, and Trichy to support startups.
- Forming a dedicated ministry for artificial intelligence.
Fiscal Discipline and Election Contest
Addressing state finances, Vijay noted that Tamil Nadu's debt has crossed ₹10.5 lakh crore and stressed the need for fiscal discipline. "Our solution is to increase revenue without imposing additional taxes, spend efficiently, and create new income avenues," he explained.
Concluding his speech, he framed the election as a direct contest: "This is a two-way fight—between TVK and the DMK. Do you want Stalin sir's rule or your Vijay?" Following the campaign, Vijay took out a cycle rally along the highway.
