Vijay Alleges DMK and BJP in Indirect Alliance to Target Him and His Film
In a fiery campaign speech in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, TVK chief and actor-turned-politician Vijay broke his silence on the controversy surrounding his latest movie, accusing the ruling DMK of conspiring with "other forces" against him. He claimed the DMK fears his film Jananayagan could become a powerful political tool in favor of his party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in the upcoming elections.
Direct Accusations of Political Conspiracy
Addressing a campaign meeting at Marakkadai junction near the MGR statue in Trichy East constituency, Vijay asserted there is no difference between the DMK and BJP, as both are engaged in what he called a "backdoor and indirect alliance." He alleged this coalition is actively conspiring against him and the people of Tamil Nadu.
"DMK, with a kallapetti kootani (an alliance acquired through money) and an indirect alliance with mattrum palar kootani (many others), is opposing Vijay," he declared. "From the Karur stampede to our last movie Jananayagan, there is a conspiracy. What if it made our relationship stronger? What if it became a powerful weapon in the election? There are many conspiracies."
Vijay, who is contesting from both Trichy East and Perambur in Chennai, emphasized his dual role as a politician seeking justice for the people and for himself. In his 20-minute address, he primarily targeted the DMK and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, with only brief mentions of the BJP.
Criticism of DMK's Alliances and Governance
He accused the DMK of deceiving the public through manipulative alliances. "Do you know how they are cheating you to loot money? By bringing a few Congress leaders into their fold, they have formed a 'half Khadar coalition' to mislead minorities. On the other hand, with mattrum palar kootani and its Delhi-based leadership — a 'half saffron alliance' — they are deceiving the people. So, do not believe either DMK or BJP."
On the issue of LPG shortage, Vijay held both the state and central governments responsible. "The state government should have taken precautions to ensure that Tamil Nadu managed the crisis. If there is a raid at his residence, Stalin flies to Delhi. Why not go to Delhi for the LPG shortage crisis?" he questioned, highlighting what he sees as selective priorities.
Allegations of Corruption and Unfulfilled Promises
Vijay further accused the DMK government of failing to fulfill its election promises, vowing that TVK would ensure all commitments are met with priority given to education, ration distribution, drinking water, roads, and transport facilities.
Referring to the alleged cash-for-jobs scam, he stated, "There is a minister who, on the pretext of getting people jobs in the municipal administration, accepted crores in bribes and left eligible people without jobs. Stalin government should be thrown out. If there is more than ₹1,000 crore worth of corruption just in the MAWS administration, think about the other departments."
Appeal to Voters and Campaign Activities
Appealing to voters for a chance, Vijay pledged, "We pledge to deliver a government that is 100% fair and just. You can place your absolute trust — 100% — in me, Vijay." He urged people to vote for the whistle symbol across the state and even sang a short song to energize the crowd.
Earlier in the day, before the campaign event, Vijay filed his nomination at Trichy Corporation's Zone II office to contest from the Trichy East segment. He paid tributes to the late former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran (MGR). Notably, Marakkadai junction is the same location where Vijay held his maiden political campaign in September last year, though the crowd on Thursday was reportedly smaller compared to that initial rally.
