Bhopal: A tragic road accident in the Berasia area on Friday claimed the life of a 60-year-old woman and left her husband seriously injured. The incident occurred when a speeding car allegedly rammed their motorcycle. The Berasia police have registered a case against the unidentified car driver.
Details of the Accident
According to police reports, the elderly couple, identified as Laxminarayan Sharma and his wife Savitri Bai Sharma (60), were residents of Chatahedi village under the Berasia police station limits. They were traveling on a motorcycle from Berasia to Chandi Saloi village at around 6 pm when the accident took place.
As they approached the Shamshabad bypass junction near Imalia Swaroop village, a speeding car coming from the Narsinghgarh side allegedly struck their motorcycle head-on. The impact was so severe that both were thrown onto the road, sustaining critical injuries.
Rescue and Hospitalization
A passerby, Vikram Singh Gurjar, immediately came to their aid. He rushed the injured couple to Berasia Hospital in his car and also informed their son, Umesh Sharma, about the accident. By the time Umesh reached the hospital, his father was undergoing treatment. However, his mother succumbed to her injuries during treatment, police confirmed.
Upon receiving information, police personnel arrived at the hospital and arranged for the woman's body to be sent for a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered against the car driver based on the complaint filed by the victim's son.
Investigation and Current Status
Police officials stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused driver. The condition of the injured husband, Laxminarayan Sharma, is reported to be stable, and he continues to receive medical treatment at the hospital.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of road safety measures. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the car or its driver to come forward to assist in the investigation.
