Woman Injured in Fishing Cat Attack in Bijnor, Animal Dies

Bijnor: A 38-year-old woman sustained injuries after being attacked by a fishing cat while collecting fodder in Jamalpur Dhikli village of Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district on Saturday evening. The animal died after she fought back in self-defence, villagers said.

Incident Details

Mithlesh Devi had gone to collect fodder for cattle when the animal suddenly pounced on her. According to residents, she suffered serious injuries in the attack. In an attempt to defend herself, Mithlesh used the sickle she was carrying to cut grass and struck the animal. The fishing cat suffered fatal injuries during the struggle and died on the spot, villagers said.

Aftermath and Response

Despite her injuries, Mithlesh managed to run towards the village before collapsing on the road. Villagers rushed to her aid and took her to a hospital for treatment. The incident triggered panic in the area, and a large number of residents gathered at the spot after learning about the attack. Forest department officials were informed and reached the village.
