CM Yogi Adityanath Warns Against Caste Politics, Calls for Unity to Protect Nation
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath delivered a powerful address at the Jauhar Shraddhanjali Samaroh in Rajasthan on Sunday, where he insisted that social unity is absolutely essential to safeguard the nation. He strongly cautioned that caste-based divisive politics must be avoided to prevent a rerun of the past, emphasizing that such tendencies could once again push the country onto a path of decline if society fails to oppose them.
Criticism of Divisive Forces and Historical Context
Adityanath pointedly criticized those with no constructive work, accusing them of trying to weaken society by promoting casteism. He stated that caste-based politics damages the very foundations of both society and the nation, creating rifts that undermine progress. The Chief Minister specifically highlighted individuals who previously denied the existence of deities like Ram and Krishna, opposed the Ram temple movement, and attempted to delay the judicial process related to the temple dispute, holding them responsible for dividing society.
Tribute to Mewar Legacy and Historical Figures
During his speech, Yogi paid a heartfelt tribute to the rich legacy of Mewar, praising the extraordinary courage of its warriors, the profound sacrifice of women through Jauhar, and the deep devotion of Meerabai. He described these stories as continuing to inspire the entire country, while portraying Chittorgarh Fort as far more than a mere stone structure—it is a symbol of resilience and heritage.
He also remembered several iconic historical figures, including Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Guru Gobind Singh, emphasizing that their struggles were not for personal gain or dynastic power, but for the nation, faith, and freedom. Referring to Guru Gobind Singh, he noted that even the martyrdom of his four sons did not shake his unwavering resolve, showcasing immense strength and dedication.
Symbols of Resistance and Sacrifice
Adityanath invoked Maharana Sanga and Maharana Pratap as powerful symbols of resistance and sacrifice. He recounted that Maharana Sanga bore 80 wounds on his body yet remained fiercely focused on protecting the honour of the nation. He added that Maharana Pratap, at the young age of 27, fought against Akbar and posed a formidable challenge to the Mughal Emperor, ensuring his bravery remains permanently etched in Indian history.
Governance Achievements and Ayodhya Reference
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister highlighted his government's strong record on law and order, detailing a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and threats to women's dignity that has significantly improved safety across the state. He proudly stated that girls are now able to attend school without fear, and women can work night shifts and return home safely, marking a transformative change in public security.
Referring to Ayodhya, Adityanath said Lord Ram became revered because he resolved to rid the earth of evil. He announced that the grand Ram Temple has now been built and that no symbol of slavery remains there. He stressed that such monumental achievements are only possible when the nation moves forward in unity and remains vigilant against divisive politics that seek to fragment society.
Call for Strengthening Local Governance
Adityanath also emphasized the critical need to strengthen Gram Panchayats, village assemblies, and towns as foundational steps to build a self-reliant and developed India. He argued that empowering local governance structures is key to fostering grassroots development and ensuring that progress reaches every corner of the country, thereby reinforcing national unity from the ground up.
