Yogi: No Weapons, Loud Music During Muharram

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday stated that Muharram, observed on June 26, is a time for mourning and not for displaying strength. While reviewing security arrangements for the event, the CM emphasized that no weapons of any kind would be permitted during Muharram-related programs. He also banned loud music, DJs, loud drums, and any new traditions. Officials were directed to take the strictest action against attempts to disturb peace.

Late-Night Meeting Directives

In a late-night meeting on Tuesday, the CM instructed all district magistrates and superintendents of police to establish communication with religious heads and community representatives in advance regarding Muharram arrangements. He stressed that no law and order violations should be allowed.

Specific Instructions

The CM said, “Effective control should be maintained over the uncontrolled use of ear-splitting DJs, drums, and tashas. There should be no display of any kind of weapons in Muharram processions. To prevent accidents, the height of taziyas should be kept in accordance with prescribed standards, and taziyas taller than 10 to 12 feet will not be permitted.”
