Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that attempts to incite violence and bloodshed in the sacred city of Ayodhya had been thwarted. He made these remarks on Wednesday during the celebrations marking the second anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) of the Ram Temple.
Ayodhya's Turbulent Past and Divine Protection
Addressing a gathering, Adityanath stated that before the current era, Ayodhya had been turned into a centre of unrest and conflict by certain forces. He attributed this to religious extremism and appeasement politics driven by selfish motives. "Despite Ayodhya being a city of peace, terror attacks occurred during their tenure," the Chief Minister said, recalling past threats to the city.
He emphasized that designs to spill blood in the holy city had ultimately failed. Adityanath credited this to divine grace and the protective presence of Lord Hanuman at Hanuman Garhi, asserting that Ayodhya's sanctity remained inviolable.
Historic Milestones and National Pride
The CM outlined three key historic milestones for Ayodhya in recent years:
- The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2020, to perform the Bhoomi Pujan for the Shri Ram Temple.
- The PM's return on January 22, 2024, to complete the consecration of the grand idol of Ram Lalla.
- The hoisting of the saffron flag of Sanatan Dharma on the temple's main spire on November 25, 2025.
Adityanath praised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for giving decisive momentum to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and acknowledged the pivotal role of former VHP president Ashok Singhal. He also lauded Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for his active participation in the movement, calling the consecration after nearly 500 years a moment of national pride and emotional fulfilment.
Transformation and New Initiatives
Contrasting the present with the past, Adityanath highlighted Ayodhya's remarkable transformation. He noted that over 45 crore devotees have visited the city in the last five years. The city, which once lacked basic amenities and saw arrests for religious expression, is now equipped with modern infrastructure.
He listed the developments: Ayodhya has become India's first solar city, boasts an international airport, improved connectivity, and enhanced civic facilities. The CM also announced a major government employment scheme launched under the name "G Ram G" (formerly MNREGA). This initiative guarantees 125 days of employment within their own villages for unemployed individuals seeking work through their village panchayats.
The event was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who hoisted a flag at the Annapurna temple within the Ram Mandir complex and joined prayers with the Chief Minister, marking the solemn occasion.
