Yogi Adityanath Issues Stark Warning on Bengal's Future Under Opposition Rule

In a series of fiery election rallies across West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath delivered a blunt message to voters, cautioning that the state could descend into chaos if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not elected to power. Speaking at gatherings in Barabani, Rampurhat, and Bolpur on Thursday, the CM painted a grim picture of Bengal under Trinamool Congress (TMC) rule, while promising a transformative agenda under BJP leadership.

Bulldozer Justice and Mafia Crackdown Promised

Adityanath drew direct parallels between Uttar Pradesh's governance model and what he envisions for Bengal. "Under BJP rule, we have used bulldozers to dismantle mafia networks, confiscated their illegally acquired properties, and redistributed these assets to the poor and tribal communities," he declared. The CM assured Bengal's electorate that similar decisive action would be implemented against criminal elements if BJP assumes power in the state.

He made several specific commitments for Bengal's future under BJP governance:

  • Complete prohibition of cow slaughter across the state
  • Elimination of communal riots and curfew impositions
  • Restoration of Bengal's cultural identity through proper celebration of Hindu festivals
  • Economic development with central funds directed toward citizens rather than "infiltrators"

Cultural Restoration and Festival Freedom

The Uttar Pradesh leader launched a scathing critique of the current TMC administration's approach to Hindu festivals. "Mamata Didi harbors animosity toward 'Jai Shri Ram' chants and creates curfew-like restrictions during Hindu celebrations," Adityanath alleged. He specifically mentioned Murshidabad where, according to him, the government has banned Durga Puja processions and immersion ceremonies.

"The Kolkata High Court itself suggested that the TMC government should borrow bulldozers from Uttar Pradesh since they cannot provide adequate security during festivals," the CM claimed, emphasizing what he described as the administration's failure to protect religious events.

Economic Decline and Development Stagnation

Adityanath presented a detailed indictment of Bengal's economic trajectory under successive opposition governments. "Bengal was once India's economic growth engine after independence, but decades of Congress, Left Front, and now TMC rule have transformed it into a center of corruption, fear, and anarchy," he asserted.

The CM highlighted several areas of economic concern:

  1. Precipitous decline in fish and rice production
  2. Dominance of mafia groups over natural resources
  3. Vanishing employment opportunities for youth
  4. Industrial shutdowns across the state
  5. Farmers receiving disproportionately low prices for produce compared to other states

"Potato sells for Rs 15-16 per kilogram in Uttar Pradesh but only Rs 1-1.5 in Bengal," Adityanath noted, using this comparison to illustrate what he characterized as economic mismanagement.

Security Concerns and Political Intimidation

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister accused TMC of attempting to sabotage his election rallies through intimidation tactics. "After my schedule was announced, TMC goons tried to uproot BJP flags from rally grounds and prevent our events from proceeding," he claimed, suggesting this demonstrated the ruling party's insecurity about his campaign presence.

Adityanath further alleged that TMC has become synonymous with "terror, mafia raj, and corruption," creating an atmosphere of fear while promoting various illegal activities including sand, coal, and land mafias. He accused the party of misappropriating central development funds intended for West Bengal.

Constitutional Protocol Breach Alleged

The CM raised the recent controversy surrounding President Draupadi Murmu's visit to Bengal, criticizing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for what he described as a protocol violation. "For the first time in India, a daughter from a tribal community assumed the highest constitutional office as President," Adityanath stated. "Yet when President Murmu visited Bengal, neither the chief minister nor any state minister came to welcome her, disregarding established protocol for visits by constitutional dignitaries."

Cultural and Religious Policy Contrasts

Adityanath highlighted what he presented as stark differences between Uttar Pradesh's policies under BJP rule and West Bengal's current approach. "In Uttar Pradesh, we have banned cow slaughter, prohibited namaz on public roads, removed loudspeakers from mosques, and taken action against what we term love and land jihad," he explained. The CM emphasized that such measures were implemented so rigorously that "seven generations of the guilty would remember the punishment."

By contrast, he alleged that Bengal suffers from cattle smuggling, cow slaughter, and pre-festival disturbances. Adityanath also referenced historical events, noting that "during the Ram Janmbhoomi movement, the Samajwadi Party government—TMC's ally—fired bullets at Ram devotees," while under BJP's "double-engine government," the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya was constructed despite opposition from Congress, SP, and TMC.

Call to Action and Future Vision

Concluding his appeal to Bengal's voters, Adityanath urged them to support BJP candidates, promising that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, "all problems would be resolved as BJP alone can guarantee security, prosperity, and a bright future." He pledged that a BJP government would restore Bengal as "the land of Durga Utsav, Maa Kali, and Maa Tara" rather than what he characterized as its current status as India's "crime capital."

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister framed the upcoming election as a choice between continued decline under TMC or transformative development under BJP, warning that failure to elect his party would result in "criminals, mafia, and maulanas sweeping the streets of West Bengal."
