A tragic incident occurred in Yavatmal district on Thursday, where a shepherd and 13 of his goats were killed after being struck by lightning in a farmland at Takli village in Wani taluka.
Details of the Incident
According to sources, the shepherd, identified as Vilas Tumram, had taken his goats for grazing in the fields near the village when a thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rain lashed the area. A lightning bolt struck a large tree, instantly killing Tumram and 13 of his goats.
Aftermath and Response
After the thunderstorm subsided, nearby farmers alerted the villagers about the incident. The matter was reported to the local police and revenue authorities. Officials from the revenue department conducted a panchnama (on-site inspection) and sent the body for autopsy.
