Hyderabad: Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday stated that the Congress leadership has initiated an internal inquiry to determine how details of Meenakshi Natarajan’s court case became public during the Rajya Sabha election. He asserted that stringent action will be taken if any party member is found involved in leaking the information.
In an informal interaction with the media after returning from New Delhi, where he met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, the TPCC president alleged political interference at the level of the Prime Minister’s Office to ensure the rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination to the Rajya Sabha.
“BJP and the central government are responsible. There was no FIR, yet Meenakshi’s nomination was rejected. The Election Commission-appointed returning officer acted under political pressure,” he alleged.
Replying to media queries that government adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir claimed money was involved in granting party posts, Mahesh Goud said there was no need to react before seeking an explanation from one of the senior-most leaders in the party. “We have issued a show cause notice to Shabbir Ali,” Mahesh Goud said.
The TPCC chief demanded that BRS working president K T Rama Rao should undertake his bus yatra or padayatra only after providing proof to the people of Telangana regarding the huge debt left by the previous BRS government, financial mismanagement, and land issues during its tenure.
