A programme titled 'Pustakalaya Se Samaj Tak: Ek Pahal' (Library to Society: An Initiative) was inaugurated on Saturday at the CIMFR Auditorium in Dhanbad. The event was jointly organized by the National Library Mission under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the Department of School Education and Literacy, Jharkhand Government. The programme took place at the Master Sobran Manjhi State Library in Dhanbad.
DC Urges Students to Cultivate Reading Habit
Inaugurating the programme, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aditya Ranjan urged students to develop a habit of reading books for better concentration and personal growth. Addressing the gathering, he said, 'Today, the younger generation faces many distractions, but books remain the best source of knowledge and self-development. Students should regularly visit libraries to stay focused on their goals and strengthen their personalities.'
Smart Libraries and Digital Library in Development
Highlighting the importance of libraries, the DC informed that 10 modern smart libraries are being developed in Dhanbad, along with a digital library equipped with all modern facilities except internet access. He said these libraries would provide students with a peaceful and productive learning environment.
Motivational Advice from DC
Motivating students, Ranjan advised them not to lose hope after failures and to continue making sincere efforts. 'Failure teaches something new every time. One must assess daily progress and continue struggling in life to move ahead,' he added.
CIMFR Director on Books as Companions
CIMFR Director A K Mishra described books as the best companions of human beings. He warned students against being misled by unreliable social media content and stressed the timeless relevance of libraries.
State Library Facilities
District Education Officer (DEO) Abhishek Jha said the Master Sobran Manjhi State Library has a seating capacity for 300 readers and houses over 57,000 books, along with Wi-Fi and CCTV facilities.
Awareness Chariot Flagged Off
Later, the DC and CIMFR director also flagged off an awareness chariot titled 'Chalo Chale Pustakalaya' (Let's Go to the Library) to encourage students to connect with libraries.
