Chandigarh: Punjab finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday reiterated the Bhagwant Mann-led government's commitment to resolving issues concerning state employees. Cheema, who chairs the cabinet sub-committee formed to address employee grievances, held separate meetings with five different employee unions from the education department to deliberate on their demands.
Constructive Dialogue with Unions
The meetings, described as fostering constructive dialogue, underscore the government's systematic approach to addressing workforce welfare and concerns. Senior education department officials briefed Cheema on the current administrative status regarding the unions' demands and ongoing measures taken to address them.
Directives to Expedite Processes
After reviewing the department's position, the minister directed education officials to expedite administrative processes to resolve legitimate demands swiftly, ensuring timely relief and support for employees. Representatives from each union were given a patient hearing to articulate their primary demands.
The sessions took place in the finance minister's office at the Punjab Civil Secretariat. Attendees included delegations from the Berozgar PSTET Pass Art and Craft Sangharsh Union, the Unaided Staff of Aided School Front, the Murh Bahal Kacche Adhiyapak Union, the Meritorious Teachers Union, and the Berozgar BEd TET Pass Adhiyapak Union.
