Thiruvananthapuram city police have booked 14 individuals during a special enforcement drive targeting illegal vehicle racing and traffic violations across the capital city. The inspections were conducted on Saturday and Sunday under the direction of City Police Commissioner K Karthick.

Details of the Enforcement Drive

The special drive was carried out within the limits of the Cantonment, Fort, Shanghumugham, and Cyber City subdivisions of the Thiruvananthapuram city police. Police teams inspected numerous two-wheelers, cars, and other vehicles on major city roads as part of efforts to curb dangerous racing and reckless riding.

Offenses Booked

During the inspections, cases were registered against motorists for offenses including drunk driving, creating traffic obstructions, and other violations of traffic rules. The police emphasized that such activities pose a serious threat to pedestrians and other road users.

Reason for the Drive

According to police officials, the drive was organized following repeated complaints from the public regarding reckless racing by youngsters, especially during night hours. The commissioner stated that surveillance would be intensified in the coming days to prevent illegal racing activities in the city.
