A tragic accident occurred near Perungudi railway station in Velachery, Chennai, on Monday when a speeding car collided with a furniture-laden van, throwing a 19-year-old worker from the vehicle. The youth, identified as Jones, sustained severe head injuries and succumbed to his injuries at a government hospital on Tuesday.

Details of the Incident

Jones was employed at a furniture store in Velachery and was assisting with a delivery at the time of the accident. The van was being driven by Sreenath, 26. According to police, the van was traveling from Velachery towards Taramani along the MRTS Road when a car rammed into it from behind. The impact caused Jones to be thrown off the vehicle.

He was rushed to the Government Royapettah Hospital, where he later died due to the severity of his injuries. The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing police have registered a case and arrested Sreenath on charges of causing death due to negligence.
