A 30-year-old social media content creator lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident in the Mohone area of Kalyan early Saturday morning. The incident occurred when the victim reportedly lost control of his bike on a stretch of road covered with loose gravel.
Details of the Accident
The deceased has been identified as Prem Bhati, a resident of Mohone. He was returning home after dropping his wife at her parents' residence around 2:30 am when the accident took place. The bike skidded on the loose gravel, causing Bhati to suffer severe head injuries. Passers-by rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Victim's Background
According to Shankar Salve, a family friend, Prem was the eldest of two brothers and had been married last year. He had recently shifted his focus to a career in online content creation, while his family runs a local salon business in Kalyan.
Public Outcry Over Road Conditions
The incident has sparked criticism regarding the poor road conditions in the area. Local activists have alleged negligence by civic authorities, claiming that repeated complaints about loose gravel and unsafe road surfaces were ignored.
Shivaji Patil, a local activist and auto union functionary, stated, "We have been reporting about the bad condition of roads several times, but the corporation has failed to heed. We have now demanded action against responsible officials and warned of protests if conditions do not improve."
Police Investigation
Police from Khadakpada Police Station have confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
Civic Body Response
A senior official from the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation acknowledged that civic works are ongoing in parts of the city but asserted that safety measures are being taken to ensure that materials do not obstruct roads.
