Acid contamination of water sources alleged in Sambalpur

Residents of Canalpada in Talab village, under Sasan police station limits in Sambalpur district, have accused a local liquor trader of contaminating tube wells, wells and vegetable fields with acid and other toxic substances. The alleged act occurred after the trader was asked to stop selling liquor in the area.

Water crisis amid summer heat

More than 10 tribal and dalit families are facing an acute shortage of safe drinking water, exacerbated by severe summer scarcity. Locals claimed that the accused deliberately poured acid and toxic materials into water sources and farmland, damaging vegetable crops and creating widespread panic among villagers.

Complaint filed with district administration

Affected families submitted a written complaint to the Sambalpur district administration, demanding immediate action. Sambalpur collector Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar stated that officials have been directed to inquire into the allegations. "If found to be true, strict action will be taken and a formal complaint will be lodged," he said.
