Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the ultra-modern Jawaharlal Nehru (JPN) Public Library in New Delhi on July 11, 2026. Speaking at the event, he described libraries as the foundation of a nation's intellectual growth and a crucial resource for building a knowledgeable society.

The ceremony was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other dignitaries. The library, named after India's first Prime Minister, features state-of-the-art facilities including digital reading rooms, a vast collection of books, and modern amenities for researchers and students. Features of JPN Public Library
The ultra-modern library is equipped with digital catalogues, e-reading facilities, and dedicated sections for children, youth, and researchers. It also includes a multimedia room, a conference hall, and a café. The library aims to serve as a hub for academic and cultural activities in the capital.
Government's Commitment to Education
Shah reiterated the government's commitment to promoting education and literacy. He highlighted various initiatives under the National Education Policy 2020 and stressed the importance of public libraries in achieving the goal of universal literacy. The minister also commended the Delhi government for its efforts in establishing modern infrastructure for learning.
