Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh has been selected for a national award in recognition of its exceptional performance in passport verification services. Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta has been invited to attend the Passport Officers' Conference scheduled for June 18 and 19 in New Delhi.
Recognition by Ministry of External Affairs
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Andhra Pradesh Police has been recognized as one of the best-performing police organizations in the country based on passport verification data for the year 2025-26. The state has also been chosen for the State Police Institutional Performance Award.
Award Ceremony Details
The award will be presented by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during the Passport Seva Divas celebrations on June 19 at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan in New Delhi. The ministry emphasized that police verification is a critical component of the passport issuance process and acknowledged Andhra Pradesh's commitment to ensuring timely and efficient verification services.
If DGP Harish Kumar Gupta is unable to attend the event, the state may nominate another senior police officer to represent Andhra Pradesh at the ceremony.
