Shimla: Former Union minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur on Thursday inspected the under-construction Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College at Jol Sappar in Hamirpur district and raised concerns over the prolonged delay in its completion.
Decade-long delay questioned
Pointing out that the Rs 300-crore medical college sanctioned by the Centre had taken nearly a decade to complete, he questioned who was responsible for delaying the project. Addressing the media, he said the public deserved to know the reasons behind the delay.
Buildings ready, but services not started
Thakur noted that the college buildings were largely completed nearly two years ago, yet regular classes for 600 students and OPD services had not started. He urged the state government to expedite the remaining work, emphasizing that vital healthcare projects should not suffer due to administrative delays or political indifference.
He also reviewed the status of pending works with officials.
