In a daring heist on Friday late evening, four unidentified miscreants travelling in an SUV allegedly robbed Rs 26 lakh from a car near Channegowdana Doddi on the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway under Maddur police limits. The incident took place on a deserted stretch, where the accused overtook the vehicle and forcibly stopped it after assaulting the driver.
According to police, the cash was collected from the Mysuru office of a private company and was being transported in the car. At the time of the incident, only the driver was present in the vehicle. The gang forcibly opened the car doors, snatched the cash, and fled from the spot. They also took the driver's mobile phone.
The driver alerted the police with the help of bystanders. Superintendent of police VJ Shobharani visited the spot along with senior officials to assess the situation. Investigations are underway to identify the culprits, and multiple teams have been formed to track down the SUV used in the crime.
