Details of the Incident

The wedding procession had arrived from Dhotha village in Jamua block at the house of Shamsher Alam for his daughter’s marriage. The ‘Dwar Lagai’ ritual was underway before Nikah, and a large crowd had gathered. Many climbed onto an extended balcony and leaned against the railing to get a better view of the proceedings. As the number of people on the balcony grew, it gave way and came crashing down.
