The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) South Zone has successfully reclaimed a property valued at Rs 2 crore in JP Nagar. The land, located in KSRTC Layout, was originally reserved for a public park. However, illegal sheds had been constructed on the site, leading to numerous complaints from local residents.
Details of the Operation
According to officials, the encroachment was identified during a routine inspection. The illegal structures were promptly demolished, and the area has been cleared for its intended purpose. The operation was carried out with the support of the local police to ensure law and order.
Citizen Complaints
Residents of KSRTC Layout had been raising concerns about the unauthorized construction for months. They alleged that the illegal sheds were being used for commercial activities, causing inconvenience and affecting the neighborhood's aesthetics. The BBMP's swift action has been widely appreciated.
This recovery is part of a larger drive by the BBMP to reclaim public properties that have been encroached upon. The civic body has identified several such sites across the city and is taking steps to restore them for community use.
Officials have urged citizens to report any instances of encroachment on public land to the nearest BBMP office. They have also assured that strict action will be taken against those found violating rules.
