Bhopal: A history-sheeter wanted in a firing incident and a cattle slaughter case was arrested with a loaded pistol, police said. A reward of Rs 5,000 had been announced for information leading to his arrest.

The accused, Gurraj alias Tariq of Kammu Ka Bagh, is a listed criminal with cases in Eintkhedi and other police stations. He had been absconding for nearly a year in the cattle slaughter case and for several months in a firing incident linked to old enmity in which multiple people were injured.

According to police sources, the accused was apprehended during a routine patrol in the Eintkhedi area after a tip-off. Upon searching him, officers recovered a loaded pistol from his possession. The weapon has been seized and will be sent for forensic examination.

Police officials stated that Gurraj has a long criminal record, with multiple cases registered against him, including robbery and assault. His arrest is seen as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities in the region.

The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. He will be produced before a local court to seek further remand for interrogation. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain if he was planning any major crime.
