Motihari: In a significant move to enhance the well-being of police personnel, East Champaran Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat has directed all police stations in the district to establish high-tech mess facilities with modern dining arrangements. The facility will exclusively serve jawans and officers residing in barracks, while those living with their families have been excluded from the initiative.
Improving Quality of Life and Duty Performance
The SP stated that the initiative aims to improve the quality of life and overall functioning of police personnel. “Jawans will receive regular, nutritious, and quality food, which will help them stay healthy and perform their duties more effectively,” he said. Many personnel have faced difficulties in cooking food or arranging rations on time due to long and irregular duty hours. The mess system is expected to address these issues, reduce delays in reporting for duty, and minimize risks linked to the use of heaters and LPG cylinders in barracks.
Enhanced Monitoring of Key Police Stations
In another administrative move to make policing more effective and accountable, the district police have launched a monitoring initiative following directions from police headquarters. Twelve key police stations will be closely supervised by senior officers. As part of the exercise, 12 top district officers, including the SP, have been assigned to oversee improvements in police station functioning, faster disposal of pending cases, and enhanced public service delivery.
The SP revealed that around 1,615 cases are currently pending across police stations in the district. During a recent inspection of the Town police station, he reviewed pending cases related to murder, loot, robbery, NDPS Act, SC/ST atrocities, attacks on police, and prohibition law violations. He directed officials to expedite investigations and dispose of cases within stipulated timelines, using scientific evidence wherever required.
Reducing Stress Among Personnel
Officials said the mess system would reduce mental and physical stress among police personnel, enabling them to focus better on crime control and public service. The initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize police infrastructure and improve working conditions.
