BJP MLAs Meet BMC Officials to Discuss Kolkata Infrastructure Issues
BJP MLAs Meet BMC Officials on Kolkata Infrastructure

BJP MLAs from Bidhannagar and Rajarhat New Town held a meeting with Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials on Monday to discuss collaborative efforts for improving infrastructure in the region. The meeting focused on several pressing issues, including the poor condition of roads, clogged drainage systems, parking irregularities, and illegal construction activities.

Collaborative Approach for Public Welfare

The meeting was framed as a collaborative effort to ensure that political differences do not hinder public welfare. Sharadwat Mukherjee, BJP MLA from Bidhannagar, stated, "It was a courtesy visit with the BMC authorities as it was instructed to us that there should not be any disruption in civic services. There are some gaps and loopholes in some areas which have been discussed. It has been decided that the three BJP MLAs of Bidhannagar, Rajarhat Gopalpur, and Rajarhat New Town, and BMC will cooperate."

Urgent Infrastructure Needs

Both sides acknowledged that the township's infrastructure requires urgent intervention. Piyush Kanodia, BJP MLA from Rajarhat New Town, emphasized the need for pre-monsoon preparations, saying, "Monsoon is arriving and work must be taken up so waterlogging can be prevented." Mukherjee also raised concerns regarding structural deviations in multi-storey buildings. "If two-three flats are set up on each floor in G+3 buildings, there will be an increase in the number of families residing there. The civic authorities have been asked to look into this matter," Mukherjee added.
