The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Hoshiarpur has announced that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification in the district starting from June 25. This initiative aims to update the voter list and ensure its accuracy ahead of upcoming elections. The DC urged residents to cooperate with BLOs and provide necessary documents for verification.
Purpose of the Verification Drive
The primary objective of this door-to-door verification is to identify eligible voters, correct any discrepancies in the electoral roll, and remove names of deceased or relocated individuals. The process will also help in adding new voters who have turned 18 or moved into the constituency. The DC emphasized that the exercise is crucial for maintaining a clean and error-free voter list.
Details of the Campaign
The verification will be carried out by trained BLOs who will visit each household in their assigned areas. They will be equipped with official identification and will follow COVID-19 safety protocols. Residents are requested to keep their voter ID cards, Aadhaar cards, and other relevant documents ready for inspection. The drive is expected to cover all urban and rural areas of Hoshiarpur district over a period of several weeks.
The DC also warned against any fraudulent activities and urged citizens to report any suspicious behavior by individuals posing as BLOs. Residents can verify the identity of BLOs by contacting the local election office.
