BMC Demolishes 250 Illegal Structures in Powai Drive

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday demolished approximately 250 unauthorised structures in the Fukat Nagar and Milind Nagar areas of Powai as part of a coordinated anti-encroachment operation. The drive was jointly executed by the S ward office and the civic water engineering department.

Details of the Operation

Civic officials confirmed that the demolished structures were built on land owned by the hydraulic department. The operation was conducted with a significant deployment of resources, including around 150 police personnel, 50 engineering officers and staff from the S ward and water engineering department, and nearly 200 labourers. To facilitate the demolition, seven JCB machines, 10 dumpers, and other vehicles were utilised.

Future Plans for the Land

Officials stated that once the demolition is complete, the entire plot will be cleared of all encroachments. Fencing will be erected around the land to prevent any fresh illegal occupation in the future. This step aims to safeguard the property from further unauthorised use.
