Amravati: An eight-year-old boy died after falling into an uncovered safety tank while playing with friends in New Shikshak Colony in Amravati on Sunday night. According to reports, Kartik Amol Thakre was playing hide-and-seek with his friends near his residence around 8 pm.
In an attempt to hide, Kartik ran towards a nearby under-construction house. The site had an open safety tank filled with water. Due to poor lighting, Kartik was unable to notice the tank and fell into it. When Kartik did not return for a long time and was also missing from the group of children, his parents and neighbors began searching for him. During the search, his slippers were found near the construction site.
Locals searched the tank with torches and found Kartik floating in the water. He was immediately pulled out and rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The incident highlights the dangers of uncovered construction sites and the need for better safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
Residents of the colony expressed grief and anger over the lack of safety precautions at the construction site. They demanded that authorities take strict action against the builder for negligence. This tragic event serves as a reminder for parents and communities to remain vigilant about potential hazards in their surroundings, especially for young children.
