A tragic incident occurred in Tirunelveli district on Sunday, where a seven-year-old boy lost his life after accidentally falling into an open water tank at an apartment complex near Valliyur. The deceased has been identified as Siju Chris, son of Mariyappan and Revathi, residents of Valliyur.

Incident Details

According to police reports, the family resided in an apartment near Gandhi Colony, where Revathi worked as an accountant. The apartment complex had an uncovered underground tank used for purifying drinking water. While Revathi was at work, Siju Chris was playing with other children nearby. He allegedly slipped and fell into the tank unnoticed. Another child who witnessed the incident immediately alerted Revathi and other residents, who pulled the boy out and contacted the ambulance service.

Medical Response

The boy was rushed to Valliyur Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The medical staff attempted resuscitation but could not save the child.
