A seven-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being electrocuted by a snapped power line during heavy rainfall in Kolar, approximately 65 kilometers from Bengaluru, on Monday night.

Details of the Incident

The victim, identified as Shaik Takayur Rahaman, was standing outside his relative's residence in Poolsha Mohalla around 10 p.m. when the incident occurred. According to local residents, the area experienced intense rainfall accompanied by strong winds, causing several power lines to snap in various locations.

Takayur was the son of Shaik Imtiaz, a hotel assistant, and lived with his family in the same mohalla.

Prior Complaints Ignored

Sub-inspector Syed Khasim reported that residents had noticed sparks emanating from overhead wires nearly two weeks prior to the accident. Despite lodging complaints with Bescom officials and requesting immediate repairs, no action was taken.

Following the tragic event, community members gathered near the spot, demanding accountability from Bescom for their negligence.
