North Chotanagpur divisional commissioner Manoj Kumar on Saturday conducted an inspection of anganwadi centres, childcare institutions, and government offices in Chatra district, focusing on child welfare, infrastructure, revenue collection, and administrative functioning.
Anganwadi Centre Visits
Kumar visited anganwadi centres in Gidhaur block to assess facilities for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. At the Dwari Purvi anganwadi centre, he interacted with children and expressed satisfaction with their responses to basic educational questions. He directed officials to ensure a regular supply of nutritious food items according to the prescribed menu. Additionally, he reviewed drinking water, toilet, and water filter facilities, instructing officials to strengthen basic infrastructure.
“We must ensure that anganwadi centres, child care institutions and revenue offices function efficiently and transparently so that people receive better services without unnecessary difficulties. Basic facilities for children, women and differently-abled persons should be strengthened on priority, while all departments must work in coordination to achieve their targets and improve public service delivery,” he said.
At the Bariatu anganwadi centre, Kumar expressed displeasure over the absence of lighting, fans, and other essential amenities. He also found the weighing machine non-functional and ordered immediate corrective measures.
Circle Office and Revenue Review
At the Chatra circle office, Kumar directed officials to take steps for timely disposal of land and revenue matters. He stressed transparency and accountability in public service delivery and called for prompt disposal of pending cases.
Visit to Mission Vatsalya Homes
The divisional commissioner also visited the Mission Vatsalya-run boys’ and girls’ homes at Pakaria. He reviewed security arrangements, including CCTV functioning, and interacted with children on food, education, and rehabilitation. He instructed officials to prioritise rehabilitation and arrange computer, typing, and tailoring training for girls. He also directed coordination with Ranchi-based CIP for sign language experts for differently abled and hearing-impaired girls.
Revenue Review Meeting
At the collectorate auditorium, Kumar later chaired a revenue review meeting and directed departments to intensify monitoring to meet targets. He also expressed displeasure over the absence of an electricity department official.
