Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has called for measures to prevent rural residents from migrating to urban areas for medical treatment. Speaking on Saturday, he emphasized the need to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in rural regions.
CM Highlights Medical Profession Challenges
Shivakumar remarked that medicine is not an easy profession, and graduates face numerous challenges daily. He stressed the importance of making quality healthcare accessible locally to reduce the burden on city hospitals.
Call for Improved Rural Healthcare
The Chief Minister urged authorities to focus on upgrading primary health centers and district hospitals. He also highlighted the need for better facilities and trained staff in rural areas to address common medical issues.
Shivakumar's comments come amid growing concerns over overcrowding in urban hospitals due to patients from rural areas. The state government is exploring policies to decentralize healthcare services.
