Coimbatore: A comprehensive three-tier security arrangement has been implemented at the counting centre where electronic voting machines (EVMs) and voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) units from all 10 assembly constituencies are securely stored. The machines have been transported to the Government College of Technology campus on Thadagam Road and placed under strict security protocols.
Storage and Surveillance Details
EVMs from each of the 10 constituencies in the district have been allocated separate rooms and properly sealed. The counting centre is equipped with a three-tier security system, and a total of 390 CCTV cameras have been installed to ensure round-the-clock surveillance. In the first security layer, personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), armed with weapons, are guarding the strong rooms where the machines are stored. The second layer comprises personnel from the Tamil Nadu Special Police, while the third layer consists of armed reserve personnel.
Monitoring and Transparency
Special viewing facilities have been arranged for political party agents to monitor the counting process. The sealed EVMs will remain under 24-hour security surveillance until counting day. All security measures have been implemented in accordance with Election Commission guidelines to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
