Kanpur Court Rejects Bail for Two Accused in Fake Degree Racket
Court Rejects Bail for Two in Fake Degree Case

Kanpur: Additional sessions judge Nisha Srivastava on Wednesday rejected the bail pleas of Arjun Yadav from Unnao and Raghav Sarraf from Faridabad (Haryana), both accused of being involved in preparing fake degrees.

Background of the Case

The gang was busted by the Kidwai Nagar police on February 19. Assistant district government counsel Vinod Tripathi pleaded that the police had already filed a chargesheet against the accused and a probe is underway in the matter. He added that Yadav was engaged in financial transactions with the co-accused and both of them were key members of the gang involved in preparing fake educational degrees.

Arguments Against Bail

Tripathi argued that the trial has yet to begin and warned that granting bail would allow the accused to tamper with evidence, with a strong possibility of them absconding. He urged the court to reject their bail applications under these circumstances.

Defense Arguments

The two accused submitted that they were fabricated in this case. Their names were not in the FIR and they were named in the racket by other accused due to enmity. Besides, nothing was recovered from their possession, they added.

Court's Decision

After hearing both sides, the judicial official dismissed the bail applications of the accused.
