Pune witnessed two separate incidents of vandalism over the weekend, resulting in damage to eight vehicles. The incidents occurred in Ambegaon Pathar and Karvenagar on Saturday night and Sunday morning, respectively.
Incident in Ambegaon Pathar
In Ambegaon Pathar, located off the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass, two armed men vandalized a car and a two-wheeler late on Saturday night. The suspects moved around the area carrying sharp weapons before targeting the vehicles. According to the Ambegaon police, the duo intended to terrorize local residents. A video of the incident surfaced on social media, helping authorities identify the suspects. A non-cognisable offence has been registered, and a search operation is underway to apprehend them.
Incident in Karvenagar
On Sunday morning, six two-wheelers were damaged in the parking lot of a housing society in Karvenagar. The Warje police have initiated the process of registering a case. Senior Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi stated that the investigation is examining CCTV footage to identify the suspect or suspects. Preliminary findings suggest that someone extracted acid from a vehicle battery and threw it at the two-wheelers. The battery liquid is highly inflammable, causing damage to plastic parts and paint of the affected vehicles.
Possible Motive
Police suspect that the incident in Karvenagar may be linked to disputes among residents. The vehicles were randomly targeted, indicating a possible fallout from internal conflicts within the society. Further investigation is ongoing.
Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The police are working diligently to solve both cases and bring the perpetrators to justice.
