A 76-year-old woman lost her life after a truck collided with the car she was traveling in near the Binola flyover in Gurgaon on Tuesday morning. The victim, identified as Asha Diwan, was on her way from Bhiwadi to CR Park to undergo dialysis when the accident occurred. Her husband, who was also in the car, sustained minor injuries and survived the crash.
Accident Details and Police Response
According to the police, the truck struck the Maruti Ciaz from the side, causing it to jump the divider and overturn. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead upon arrival. An officer involved in the investigation stated that she did not have any visible external injuries, suggesting possible internal trauma. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination.
The deceased’s son, Ravi, filed a complaint alleging that the truck driver was driving negligently. Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered at the Bilaspur police station under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are making efforts to identify the truck and its driver.
Background of the Deceased
Asha Diwan and her husband had lived in Kuwait until 2019, where he operated a clothes and bag manufacturing business. The couple had since returned to India and were residing in Bhiwadi.
Separate Fatal Accident Involving Motorcyclist
In another tragic incident on the same day, a 50-year-old motorcyclist died after a dumper allegedly hit his bike near Banjara Market in Sector 58. The victim, Jai Prakash, was a resident of Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh and worked at a private company near Rajiv Chowk. He was commuting from Faridabad to his workplace on Sohna Road when the accident occurred.
According to the complaint filed by his son, Narendra Pal, Jai Prakash was riding his Splendor Plus motorcycle when a dumper bearing registration number HR55AX1561 struck him near Banjara Market. The complainant alleged that the dumper was being driven rashly. The collision left Jai Prakash seriously injured and caused significant damage to his motorcycle.
Police reported that the injured man was taken to the Government Hospital in Sector 10A, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Upon receiving information from the hospital, a police team arrived, collected medico-legal documents, and transferred the body to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. The victim’s son later submitted a formal complaint seeking legal action against the driver.
An FIR has been registered at the Sector 65 police station under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the dumper driver.
