FIR Against Toll Employees for Extortion in Fatehpur

Prayagraj: Fatehpur police have lodged an FIR under section 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act against employees of Jindpur Toll Plaza and another unidentified individual. The charges include causing losses to government revenue collection and extorting money from commercial truck drivers to allow their overloaded vehicles to pass through the toll plaza.

The action was taken after a video went viral on social media, prompting the police outpost in-charge at Bahua, Sub Inspector A.K. Mishra, to file the FIR at Lalaluli police station. The complaint names an unknown man and unidentified Jindpur Toll Plaza personnel for allegedly extorting money from commercial vehicles passing through the toll plaza.

Police officials stated that the toll plaza employees engaged in corruption, resulting in loss of government revenue. For personal gain, they allegedly carried out extortion through a private individual. The police also received complaints from the general public regarding these activities.

According to the police, committing theft by evading revenue tax through corruption in collusion with private individuals by toll employees is a punishable offense under Section 318(4) of the BNS and Section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
