Four booked for damaging water pipeline in Krishnagiri

KRISHNAGIRI: The Samalpatti police have registered a case against four men on charges of damaging a pipeline that supplies water to more than 30 families in Thidirkuppam village near Karadigoundanur in Krishnagiri district.

Incident and Restoration

The pipeline from an overhead tank was damaged on Sunday, following which residents stopped receiving drinking water. On Monday, officials led by Block Development Officer S Uma got the damaged pipeline repaired and restored drinking water supply to the village.

Alleged Motive

The villagers said that more than 50 people from neighbouring Karadigoundanur gathered below the overhead tank on Sunday and damaged the pipeline, alleging that no one from Thidirkuppam village had voted for a particular candidate during the April 23 assembly election.
