Union Minister Inspects Key Infrastructure Projects

Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari visited Surat on Thursday, November 27, 2025, to conduct a comprehensive review of the ongoing work on the crucial Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway. The minister's visit focused on assessing the progress of this vital infrastructure project that forms part of the larger Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway network passing through Surat district.

Detailed Inspection Through Multiple Methods

Gadkari employed multiple approaches to thoroughly examine the expressway development. He conducted both aerial and road surveys to get a complete perspective of the work progress and identify any challenges. The aerial survey covered an extensive 200-kilometre stretch of the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway that passes through Surat district, providing a bird's-eye view of the entire project scope.

In addition to the expressway inspection, the minister also examined a 100-kilometre section of National Highway 53, demonstrating the government's commitment to improving multiple transportation corridors in the region. Gadkari's road journey took him from Palsana in Surat district to Valsad on NH 53, allowing for ground-level assessment of current conditions and future requirements.

Focus on Traffic Solutions and Future Planning

During his inspection tour, Minister Gadkari engaged in detailed discussions with officials regarding current traffic conditions and potential solutions to address existing and future transportation challenges. The minister emphasized the importance of proactive planning to ensure that the infrastructure development keeps pace with growing traffic demands and contributes to regional economic growth.

This visit to Surat followed Gadkari's previous day's activities where he, along with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, inspected work on NH 48 near Rasulpur village in Sabarkantha district. The consecutive inspections underscore the government's intensified focus on accelerating highway and expressway development across Gujarat.

The Union Minister concluded his Surat visit and departed for Delhi later in the afternoon, having gathered crucial firsthand information about the progress and challenges of these significant infrastructure projects that are expected to transform connectivity and boost economic activity in the region.
