Ghaziabad experienced two separate fire incidents within a span of 12 hours, with the first occurring at the emergency department of a hospital on Tuesday night and the second at a furniture factory early Wednesday morning. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from either incident.
Hospital Fire at Santosh Medical Hospital
Around 10 PM on Tuesday, a fire broke out in the emergency ward of Santosh Medical Hospital. The fire department was immediately alerted, but by the time fire tenders arrived, the hospital staff had already managed to control the blaze. At the time of the incident, four patients were present in the ward and were evacuated safely. Fire officials stated that the fire originated in an area where oxygen and nitrogen cylinders were stored, caused by an oxygen leak. The hospital's fire safety system was effectively utilized to extinguish the flames.
Factory Fire in Sahibabad
The second fire erupted at a furniture factory site in Sahibabad around 5 AM on Wednesday. The Vaishali fire station dispatched two water units to contain the blaze. According to Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Rahul Pal, firefighters surrounded the fire from all sides. However, due to the intensity of the fire, the tin shed of the factory collapsed, creating difficulties in extinguishing it. Firefighters employed a JCB machine to remove the collapsed tin shed and successfully brought the fire under control before it could spread to nearby residential buildings. A site inspection was conducted after the flames were completely extinguished.
In the preliminary investigation, the cause of the factory fire appears to be an electrical short circuit. The factory owner was not present at the site at the time of the incident. A Hyundai Venue car, a motorcycle, a DG set, and other goods were burnt and destroyed. There was no loss of life in this accident, the CFO confirmed.
