The Gujarat state cabinet, in a meeting held on Wednesday, has decided to formulate a comprehensive plan for road widening projects that will require forest land. State government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani informed the media that the forest department will be provided with equivalent non-forest land parcels in cases where forest land is diverted for road widening purposes. This move aims to streamline infrastructure development while ensuring environmental compensation.
Cabinet Approves 'Atalwadi' Scheme
In another significant decision, the state cabinet has given its approval to the 'Atalwadi' scheme. Under this initiative, infrastructure facilities for social or public functions will be developed, capable of accommodating up to 500 persons. According to an official statement, villages with a population of 2,000 or more will be eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme. The scheme is expected to enhance community gathering spaces in rural areas.
CM Holds Virtual Meeting with Astrakhan Governor
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a virtual meeting on Wednesday with Igor Babushkin, the governor of the Astrakhan province of Russia. An official statement said that the two leaders discussed potential cooperation in the fields of commerce, education, shipbuilding, and other sectors. They also deliberated on further strengthening the existing collaborations between Gujarat and Astrakhan.
These decisions reflect the state government's focus on infrastructure development, rural welfare, and international cooperation.
