Haryana Minister Orders Rapid Power Restoration After Storms

Chandigarh: Haryana energy minister Anil Vij on Saturday directed power utilities to restore electricity supply on a war footing after severe storms and strong winds disrupted the state's power distribution network.

A special drive has been launched to normalise the system and provide relief to the affected consumers at the earliest.

According to Vij, 13,277 electricity poles were damaged or uprooted across the state – 2,791 under the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and 10,486 under Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN). Restoration and reinstallation work is progressing rapidly, he said.

To expedite repairs, 1,552 personnel – 620 UHBVN employees and 932 DHBVN staff and technical workers – have been deployed. Teams are working around the clock to repair damaged power lines, transformers and related infrastructure, said the minister.

The storm impacted the power supply in 233 villages and affected 842 feeders across Haryana. While electricity has been restored in most areas, work continues in the remaining locations.

Vij said the state govt and the energy department were committed to ensuring uninterrupted power supply. He also instructed officials to monitor restoration efforts and arrange additional resources wherever required.

The minister also urged residents to stay away from damaged power lines and fallen poles and promptly report electricity-related issues to local power offices or complaint centres.
